Speaker - August

Initially trained as a chorister Simon Morgan then studied the saxophone progressing to become a bandsman in the Royal Marines.  He gave an interesting talk with a demonstration of all the instruments pictured.

September

Steve Oates RSPB - The Magic of Bird Migration

An interesting talk concerning seasonal bird migration.  We discovered how birds navigate their route, various flight paths used by different species & how ringing & GPS trackers play their part in monitoring various species.  There was an accompanying slideshow with great shots of various birds.

October

Diane Duer - The History of Furzey Gardens

A potted history of Furzey Gardens at Minstead was the subject of today's talk with accompanying slides.  We heard about Hugh Dalrymple who was instrumental in setting out the gardens, the explorers whose expeditions provided most of the unusual plants & how it has evolved to supporting people with learning disabilities.

November

Doug Henderson - The Gurkha Museum
